November 2, 2026 · A simple explanation
What is happening with the pharmacy’s computer records?
The pharmacy’s computer was switched to an old copy of its records from January. That copy is missing months of information.
The newer records still exist. But work has now been entered into both copies, so the recent changes need to be brought together carefully.
Choice 1: Keep typing records back in
Staff are entering prescriptions again, one at a time. Thousands still need attention.
That is 1,000–1,400 more work hours, with everyone’s hours added together, valued at $25 an hour.
Even after that work, some older prescription history would still need fixing.
Choice 2: Return to the newer records
The computer support company could check the saved, newer records and work out how to use them again.
They would also need to bring over the work done since the switch and test that everything works correctly.
This could save a lot of typing. We do not yet know what it would cost or how long it would take.
What should the owner ask?
“Can you safely put us back on the newer records? What would the whole job cost, and how long would it take?”
That answer would let the owner compare the two choices before spending much more staff time typing records back in.
